Iyengar yoga is based on Hatha yoga where props are used to hold a pose for a longer period of time so the healing process in the body is better facilitated.

The use of props, designed by B.K.S. Iyengar Guruji, such as wooden gadgets, belts, ropes helps the practitioner to achieve perfection in any Asana. Iyengar yoga is meant for all as the use of props allows one to hold the pose and get the benefit regardless of experience, mobility or age.
